Tom Clark:
The only constant in Tom's background is his love of wood and using his creative talent to envision speciality pieces from that wood. A dedicated entrepreneur, over the years he has built a number of business interests that include a mixed cattle and grain farm and ranch, construction carpentry, specialty lumber mill, transport trucking and an environmental consulting enterprise to name a few. He has been building furniture all of his adult life, first starting as a hobby then beginning his woodworking business in 1997. He remembers that when he first proposed to his wife Wendy, he presented her with a first try at a hope chest . "It has taken me many years to create a style and crafted look that I am proud of. I enjoy the challenge of creating unique designs that help reflect the natural beauty of the weathered wood, designs that are strong and functional as well. Custom pieces are my favourite projects, where I can create and craft a distinctive piece of furniture that reflects the customer's individual personal taste and functionality." With inspiration from his uncle, you will also find Tom working the forge shaping iron pieces that stand alone or accent the distinctive furniture that he builds. Tom was born in Calgary but settled in the Olds area in 1979. Tom's shop is on an acreage just west of Olds, Alberta, where their home is situated that was built by Tom and Wendy in 1992. Their home is furnished with Tom's handiwork and craftsmanship and is used as a show home for clients to stop and visit. Tom and Wendy have three daughters: Jessica, married to Ryan with two children, Annika and Dane (hooray for grandchildren!) They live west of Olds in a beautiful home that displays Tom's talents. Angela is completing a Law Degree at the U of A. Lisa is completing a Bachelor of Nursing Degree and lives in Calgary. Tom's other interests include fly fishing, canoeing, hiking, biking, camping, travelling and of course, grandchildren. Tom and Wendy welcome visitors to their home. |
