Artisans Page Image Tom Clark:

The only constant in Tom's background is his love of woodworking and his creative talent. A dedicated entrepreneur, over the years he has built a number of business interests that include a mixed cattle and grain farm and ranch, construction carpentry, specialty lumber mill, transport trucking and an environmental consulting enterprise to name a few. He began woodworking as a business in 1999, something he has always wanted to do.

Tom has been making furniture all his life and remembers when he proposed to his wife Wendy he presented her with his first try at a hope chest. He went on to make many beautiful pieces of furniture which now displayed in their home which they built together in 1992. THe many pieces Tom built for their home make it a "show home" for visitors and customers to view the furniture Tom has worked hard to create.

"It has taken me many years to create a style and crafted look that I am proud of. I enjoy the challenge of creating unique designs that help reflect the natural beauty of the weathered wood, designs that are strong and functional as well. Custom pieces are my favourite projects, where I can create and craft a distinctive piece of furniture that reflects the customer's individual personal taste and functionality."

You will also find Tom working in his forge working and shaping iron pieces that accent the unique furniture that he builds. This is another area where his creativity blossoms.

Tom was born in Calgary but settled in the Olds area in 1979. Tom's shop is on an acreage just west of Olds, Alberta where he and his wife Wendy built their home in 1992. Their home is furnished with Tom's handiwork and craftsmanship. Their tree farm, garden and flowers require some attention in between projects. They have three daughters; Jessica, Angela and Lisa. Jessica has graduated from university, is married and works for Parks Canada. Angela has also graduated from university and is a Corporal in the Armed Forces Reserve Army, Calgary Highlanders Regiment. Lisa is currently at Mount Royal College, starting he 2nd year in Bachelor of Ectotourism and Outdoor Leadership.

Tom's other interests include music (campfire guitar and "lead" vocals), fishing, canoeing, biking, camping/travelling. His other artistic talents include painting in oils and pencil drawing.

We love to have people come to our home to see Tom's many talents.
